Biometric passport photos do not have to look like mug shots.
Did you know that a slight smile is also allowed for biometric passport photos?
With our professional lighting equipment, we illuminate your passport photo pleasantly and bring out everything that still meets the specifications.
You can then choose the passport photo that you like best. We will then print it out immediately and send it to you as a file if you wish.
After all, you have to be happy with your passport photo for the next six to ten years.
Do I need an appointment for passport photos?
Not necessarily. You can also get passport photos from us if you need them spontaneously.
However, there may be waiting times.
Our opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm.
It’s best to give us a call anyway. Then you won’t have to wait.

Should I wear my glasses in the passport photo?
You may wear your glasses in passport photos, but you do not have to.
Our recommendation:
Take them off. Then we can illuminate you even more beautifully without disturbing reflections.
The images can then be used for more purposes.
For a US visa, for example, you need a photo without glasses.
What do I need to consider with clothing and jewelry?
In general, your face should not be covered. The collar of a blouse or shirt is still okay.
However, a turtleneck sweater can be problematic. Unfortunately, scarves around the neck are also bad on biometric passport photos.
If you wear a head covering for religious reasons, this is of course permitted. However, it must not cover your face.
You can wear jewelry. Necklaces and earrings are completely okay. Piercings are a bit more difficult.
We haven’t heard of any photos not being accepted because of a facial piercing,
but if you want to be on the safe side, take the piercing out and hand in the photo to the city or driver’s license office while you’re not wearing the piercing.
Can I wear make-up?
Your mouth and eyes are the most important biometric features and must be clearly recognizable for digital facial recognition software, for example at airports.
You can wear make-up for your passport photo shoot as normal if you keep a few things in mind:
If it is not medically necessary, it is best to leave out your face cream for your passport photo and use a little more powder than normal.
Then you won’t shine.
Our studio flashes are much brighter than normal lamps.
However, there is one small restriction:
We recommend not going beyond the edge of your lips with lipstick and not using a contour pencil for your lips.
Kajal is also better used only lightly for passport photos.
Is retouching allowed and included in the price?
Light digital retouching of the skin is permitted and, if desired, included in the price. We remove minor skin blemishes and redness free of charge.
Deformation of the face and removal of features such as wrinkles and pigment spots is not permitted.
How old can passport photos be?
Passport photos must not be older than six months if you want to use them to apply for an ID document in Germany. For example, authorities use passport photos that you have already submitted to an authority.
What is the legal status of biometric passport photos
?
A lot is happening at the moment when it comes to the legal aspects of biometric passport photos.
Passport photos will soon have to be sent digitally by licensed photographers to the Citizens’ Registration Office.
This is intended to prevent so-called morphing, i.e. the digital blending of two facial images by computer.
The regulation is due to come into force in mid-2021.
However, there is a transitional period until 2025 because many citizens’ bureaus and offices do not yet have the technical capabilities to meet the requirements.
